Our Retail Team is dedicated to delivering exceptional and memorable experiences in our Union shops, providing friendly support, quality products, and outstanding service to students, staff, and visitors every day. If you’re passionate about creating outstanding customer experiences and want to play a key role in supporting students on their university journey, our Retail Supervisor position could be perfect for you. As part of our Retail Team servicing two outlets, you’ll help lead smooth day-to-day operations, maintain high merchandising standards, and offer a welcoming environment that makes every visitor Proud to be Staffs. You’ll use your retail expertise to train and support team members, manage stock and financial processes, and contribute to the success of a space at the heart of our student community. Details of this Role
Contract Type: Part time, annualised hours based on 30 hours over 35 weeks. (Predominantly University term time with Christmas and New Year off).
Working Hours: Normally a 5 day shift pattern over the 7 day week, which will involve both early openings and late closing*.
*Roles on our retail team require availability which is not usually compatible to undertake alongside studies.
Holiday: 5 Weeks per year plus Bank Holidays pro rata (That's 33 days!)
Start date: Immediate
Location: Stoke on Trent Campuses
Salary: £25,013 to £26,949 pro-rata (Grade 4, SCP 18-21)

What we are looking for:
- At least 12 months experience in retail, shop supervision, or a similar customer-facing role
- Availability to work all operational trading hours across both outlets, including opening and closing duties. This will include regular weekend working.
- Strong cash handling and financial administration skills with attention to accuracy.
- Knowledge of stock control, merchandising, and EPOS/till systems.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a small team effectively
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Awareness of and commitment to health and safety standards.
- Office 365 skills, including everyday use of Sharepoint and Teams
